This URL can be accessed from both inside and outside the JU network:

  1. If the IDM portal is launched from the JU network, after confirming this address, enter your username ("Username") and a valid IDM password ("Password").
  2. If the portal is launched outside the JU network, after completing the Username and Password, an email is sent to your personal email address, which you have entered in the IDM, with a URL address valid for 20 minutes, after which you are given the option to change the password. It is necessary to confirm the field "I am not a robot" and then to work with the so-called image captcha (table with images), here select the corresponding identical images. You can then change the password (see below).

In case the personal email address of your identity is not filled in the IDM, you are notified of this fact at the same time with instructions on how to proceed (send the corresponding RT message to the JU Helpdesk, where your personal email address will be added after your identity has been verified and you will be informed of this by return email).

Credit System of Study

From the academic year 1999/2000, a credit system of study was introduced across the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice for all bachelor's and follow-up master's programs. The credit system at the university was designed to be in accordance with the principles of the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) and to facilitate seamless student mobility. The study and examination regulations of the university are fully compliant with this system, and all other documents regulating study at the university must fully respect its provisions. In the interest of compatibility between our credit system and ECTS, several standards have been adopted:

One credit corresponds to an average total study load of 25 to 30 hours of student work, including participation in organized instruction, self-study, and other activities necessary to meet course requirements. Within the credit system, students can somewhat determine which subjects they will study and choose their pace of study. However, this is limited by certain restrictions:

  • A student must earn a minimum of 20 credits in the first semester of study.
  • A student must earn a minimum of 40 credits in the first year of study.
  • A student must earn a minimum of 80 credits over any four consecutive semesters.
  • A student may not exceed the maximum duration of study (3+2 years for bachelor's study, 2+2 for follow-up master's study).

The standard pace of study is 60 credits per academic year (30 credits per semester). To successfully complete the study, a student must earn a number of credits equal to sixty times the standard duration of study (180 credits for bachelor's programmes, 120 credits for follow-up master's programmes). Details are specified in the university's study and examination regulations. The grading scale for assessing exams is six-tiered, with five grades for a successful exam and one grade for an unsuccessful exam.

Assessment of Study: A student earns credits by completing a subject with a grade of at least "satisfactory" (3). Credits for a specific subject can only be earned once during a single course of study. This does not apply to subjects that allow repeated registration in the information system (e.g., sports).

The university’s study and examination regulations introduce a five-point grading scale for a successfully completed exam, with grades of "excellent" (1), "excellent minus" (1-), "very good" (2), "very good minus" (2-), and "satisfactory" (3). An unsatisfactory performance is graded as "failed" (4). For statistical evaluation purposes, the values "1," "1.50," "2," "2.50," "3," and "4" are used.

A student may repeat an exam for a given enrolled subject a maximum of two times (first and second retake exams).

If a subject is concluded with an exam, a grade of "satisfactory" is sufficient for its completion and earning credits.

The content of the study for the respective study programme is defined by the study plan. Subjects included in the study plan may have the status of:

  • Mandatory – these subjects must be completed by the student;
  • Compulsory elective – the student must earn a specified minimum number of credits from individual blocks of compulsory elective subjects (this choice helps the student to profile themselves);
  • Elective – other subjects that the student may take at the university.
