Graduates, most of whom have transitioned to work in agricultural practice, should be kept up-to-date with the latest developments in the field and should have an easy access to their ALMA MATER at all times. For this reason, the year 1995 saw the establishment of an Alumni Club at the then Faculty of Agronomy, University of Agriculture. The initiators and members of the Founding Committee were its graduates Pavel Hájek, Václav Král, Jana Smržová, František Zobal and Jindřich Kouba, who became the first Chair of the Club Committee. Later, the position of the Club Chair was filled by graduates Petr Podlaha, Miroslav Čadil and Karel Suchý, with Luboš Zábranský being the current Chair.

The main objective of the Alumni Club since its foundation has been to maintain permanent contact between the Faculty and its graduates. Through the mediation of the Club, graduates receive invitations to specialized seminars and scientific conferences. Needless to say, specialized lectures also come from the other side. By delivering lectures, professionals operating in agricultural practice share their practical experience. As part of educational excursions, students visit or undertake their professional training at the establishments where the graduates from the Faculty work. Renowned professionals from among our graduates are also invited to work as external members of the final state examination boards.

The alumni magazine “Zpravodaj” [Bulletin] began to be published from the very first year of the Club’s existence. Today, our graduates are provided information in a form of the university magazine JOURNAL, with regular distribution in electronic form.

With the exception of 2020 and 2021, due to anti-epidemic measures, the Alumni Club organizes an annual alumni reunion every year. The reunion is traditionally held on the last Friday in August, when, at the same time, the national agricultural exhibition “Země Živitelka” [“Bread Basket” Agricultural Show] is hosted at the Exhibition Centre in České Budějovice. The meeting takes place on the premises of the student canteen, which also provides facilities for meeting former classmates of individual years, former and current teachers of the Faculty. The whole event is accentuated by live music and abundant refreshments - two kinds of hot dinner, rich buffets, beer, wine and non-alcoholic beverages. Graduates are also welcome to explore the current workplaces and classrooms of the Faculty.

The ceremonial commencement of the event, underpinned by the student anthem Gaudeamus Igitur is attended by representatives of the Faculty management and often also by the Rector of the University of South Bohemia or representatives of the local government or the Ministry of Agriculture. Since 2016, as a part of the meeting, “golden graduation” is held, when graduates whose actual graduation took place 50 years ago are graduated again, wearing academic gowns.

The Alumni Club of the Faculty of Agriculture an Technology USB is open to all of its graduates since the foundation of the Faculty. However, it is necessary to register online due to personal data protection regulations.
