From 1 to 5 June 2026, the Faculty of Agriculture and Technology of the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice hosted an international summer school, entitled Make and Taste Czech Food!, focused on traditional Czech food products. The event brought together 14 students from Poland, Romania, and Slovenia.

The main part of the programme took place over the first three days, during which participants had the opportunity to produce selected Czech food products themselves. Students were divided into three groups and rotated between different workshops. Under the guidance of faculty experts, they learned to brew beer in the faculty’s mini-brewery, produce stretched-curd cheese and ice cream, and prepare the traditional Czech sausage known as špekáček.

On Thursday morning, participants visited the national brewery Budějovický Budvar, where they learned about the history and present-day production of Czech beer. In the afternoon, they explored South Bohemia's cultural heritage on an excursion to Český Krumlov.

The final day of the summer school was dedicated to student presentations. Representatives of each country introduced the cultural heritage of their home regions or the regions where their universities are located. Another part of the programme focused on food products protected under the European quality schemes PDO, PGI, and TSG. Students also presented traditional dishes typical of their home countries.

The closing programme included a tasting session and sensory evaluation of the ice cream and špekáčky produced during the practical workshops. At the end of the event, all participants received certificates of completion.
