PhD students completed an internship at BOKU Vienna
PhD students from the Department of Agroecosystems completed an internship during March 2026 at the Austrian university BOKU University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences in Vienna. The internship took place within the frameworks of the Erasmus+ and CEEPUS programmes and provided the students with new expert knowledge, valuable contacts, and inspiration for their future scientific work.
The program was conducted under the supervision of Reinhard Neugschwandtner (Assoc. Prof. Dipl.-Ing. Mag. Dr. nat. techn.) and focused on sharing knowledge and experience across several areas of agricultural and environmental research. During the internship, the students met with technical and scientific staff from various departments to discuss topics such as soil science, crop production, life cycle assessment (LCA), and horticulture. The program also included participation in expert lectures and presentations on specialised topics and on agriculture in the Czech context.
At the same time, the PhD students presented their fields of study, previous academic experience, and research activities carried out at the faculty, thereby actively contributing to the professional exchange between the two institutions. As part of the internship, they also visited the experimental facilities of BOKU’s research stations in Groß-Enzersdorf, where they became familiar with ongoing sowing activities and the establishment of field experiments. Another part of the program included a visit to the main BOKU campus in Vienna.
The international internship contributed not only to expanding the students’ professional knowledge but also to strengthening international cooperation and the exchange of experience between young researchers and academic staff from both universities.
