Make and Taste Czech Food! – Summer School of Food Production 2025

From June 16 to 20, 2025, the annual Summer School of Food Production titled Make and Taste Czech Food took place, bringing together 15 students from universities in Slovenia, Slovakia, Romania, and Spain. Over the course of five days, participants had the opportunity to try their hand at making traditional Czech food products – from steamed cheeses, sausages, and fruit yogurt ice creams to brewing beer.

The students were divided into three groups and rotated through the various production stations during the first three days (Monday to Wednesday).

On Thursday morning, the students went on a professional excursion to the national brewery Budějovický Budvar, where they learned fascinating facts about beer production and its history. In the afternoon, they visited the historic town of Český Krumlov, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Friday was dedicated to the final wrap-up and sensory evaluation. The students tasted and assessed the products they had made. A tasting of Czech non-alcoholic beers also took place. At the end of the day, each participant received a certificate of completion and a small gift.

The students completed the summer school with enthusiasm and great interest. The program provided them not only with hands-on experience in food production, but also with the opportunity to explore the cultural and culinary richness of the Czech Republic.
