We Brought Home Two Medals from USB Sports Day

On 24 September, students and staff from across the University of South Bohemia took part in USB Sports Day. Our faculty was represented in five-a-side football and table tennis, winning a medal in both competitions.
Silver in Football
Our football team included students and staff from the faculty, as well as international students and an exchange programme participant.
The team started the Rector's Cup tournament with a 5–1 victory over the Faculty of Fisheries and Protection of Waters. Their next match was against the Faculty of Science. Despite falling two goals behind, our players managed to come back and secure a 2–2 draw. In their final group match, they lost 1–2 to the Faculty of Economics but still qualified for the semi-finals.
In the semi-finals, our team faced the Faculty of Arts. A single goal towards the end of the match secured a 1–0 victory and a place in the final.
There, our players met the Faculty of Economics once again. The opponents took a 2–0 lead, but our team managed to pull one goal back to make it 2–1. However, the Faculty of Economics scored again, bringing the final score to 3–1.
Our football team finished in second place in the Rector's Cup tournament.
Bronze in Table Tennis
Four players also represented our faculty in the table tennis tournament. The competition followed a round-robin format, with participants ranging from recreational players to experienced league competitors.
Petr Mráz from the Department of Biological Disciplines secured third place.
This year's USB Sports Day brought us two medals – silver in football and bronze in table tennis.
Thank you to all the students and staff who took part in Sports Day and represented our faculty!
