Summer School on Biostimulants and Bioprotectants in Sustainable Crop Production

From 5 to 9 October 2026, the Faculty of Agriculture and Technology at the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice hosted a summer school as part of the international project funded by the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA), entitled “Developing relationships in the design, prototyping and application of plant biostimulants as a response to the abiotic stresses in crop plants” (BPI/PST/2024/1/00077).
The main objective of the summer school was to deepen participants' theoretical knowledge and develop their practical skills in the development, efficacy assessment and application of biostimulants and bioprotectants in crop production. The programme focused on strengthening the scientific expertise of researchers and exploring the potential of these products as important tools for sustainable agriculture, promoting plant growth and health while reducing the use of fertilisers and synthetic plant protection products.
In addition to presentations of research findings, the programme included field-based technical seminars that enabled participants to connect theoretical knowledge with practical experience. An important aspect of the summer school was the exchange of expertise, experience and research findings among the participating research teams, contributing to stronger international collaboration.
The programme also featured presentations of research activities conducted by the Department of Technology and Cybernetics. Participants had the opportunity to explore modern technologies and their practical applications in agricultural and technical fields.
The programme also included visits to Třeboň and Český Krumlov, where participants explored some of the significant landmarks of Czech cultural heritage.
The event brought together a total of 30 representatives from partner universities in the Czech Republic (University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice), Poland (University of Life Sciences in Lublin), Slovakia (Slovak University of Agriculture in Nitra) and Argentina (University of Buenos Aires), all of which are involved in the project.
