On September 27, 2024, our faculty hosted the traditional nationwide event, the Night of Scientists (Noc vědců), which attracts both science enthusiasts and the general public every year. The theme of this year’s event was "Transformation," which was integrated across all disciplines offered by our faculty. Whether it was plant and animal production, digital technology, artificial intelligence, genetics, chemistry, or food science, each field highlighted the "transformations" encountered in their respective practices.
Visitors had the chance to witness demonstrations of modern technology, such as drones, robotic arms, and 3D printing. They could explore the secrets of the microscopic world, and history buffs enjoyed a station where they tested their knowledge of the city of České Budějovice through historical photographs. Interactive stations were prepared for younger visitors, while older attendees appreciated in-depth discussions about scientific advancements in environmental and agricultural transformations. Stations engaging all senses were particularly popular; besides visual and tactile experiences, visitors also enjoyed tastings of homemade cheeses, ice cream, yogurts, various types of puddings, unique crops, homemade pastries, cotton candy, and popcorn.
Despite less-than-ideal weather, the event attracted over 600 visitors, who left with unforgettable memories. We extend our thanks to all faculty members for their efforts and the excellent program they prepared for our visitors.
