On Friday, 17 March 2023, the Minister of Labour and Social Affairs Marian Jurečka visited the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice. During his busy working visit to South Bohemia, he also set aside time in his programme to get acquainted with the environment of the University of South Bohemia and the activities implemented at the individual faculties, both in the field of education and research. On this occasion, he mentioned the need to develop activities in lifelong learning, which should be one of the pillars of education at universities. The Minister discussed with the Rector of JU the issue of financing universities and the possibility of increasing the tariff component among academic staff.
The meeting also continued during a working lunch in the presence of several distinguished guests from the business, academic and social spheres, to which the Minister also invited the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture and Technology, Assoc. Prof. Petr Bartos and the Dean of the Faculty of Fisheries and Water Conservation, Prof. Pavel Kozák. Other issues related to applied research, the possibility of spin-off companies, the issue of technology transfer, innovation in agriculture and other topics important to our society were discussed.
